Private Robert Fletcher

 

The family background of this man is not known at present.

Robert Fletcher enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Belfast on 21 September 1918 (Corps of Hussars No.72161). He was described as being 5' 4½" tall, with a fresh complexion, fair hair and blue eyes, with dancing girl tattooed on his right forearm, and 'Willie' on his left. He gave his age as 21, his place of birth as Shankill and his occupation as a sawmill labourer.

Fletcher was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 1 November 1918. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
